I understand that I am signing up for my child to participate in small group and individual music lessons through American Music Academy for the 2026-2027 school year. Each group lesson is 45 minutes, and each individual lesson is 20 minutes in duration.

I give consent for my child to be supervised by the American Music Academy during their small group music lesson. The Mays School staff will be available for any student or AMA teacher needs.

I understand that group music classes run 8/31/26 through 6/11/27 and that my child will receive a total of 33 music lessons. Tuition is $1,650 ($50 per lesson), plus a non-refundable $100 registration fee. Tuition is due September 1^st, 2026, or paid in three equal increments (September 1^st, December 1^st, and March 1^st).

I understand that classes are scheduled based on age, prior experience, and ability.

I understand that I am registering for the full school year. Discounts and refunds are not available.

Tuition payment options:

I would like to split the tuition into three equal payments in September 2026, December 2026, and March 2027.

I understand that American Music Academy does not offer make-up lessons for group lessons. They will provide full group make up lessons if the class is canceled for most reasons (school closure, music teacher absence, etc.).

If your child is too sick to attend school, then they are too sick to attend music lessons. MAYS’ current illness policies are in effect for music lessons.

I give The Mays School permission to share any special needs, existing illnesses, food allergies, environmental allergies, medication allergies, other allergies, previous serious illnesses, injuries, and hospitalizations with American Music Academy’s staff members to ensure continuity of care and child safety.

I understand that American Music Academy communicates with parents through a mobile app. Each family will need to download the app to check on their student’s progress and class updates. MAYS will not have specific information about each musician’s progress.

Instrument requirements (VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ!)

Violin: Students are required to purchase or rent a properly-sized violin and shoulder rest from Lisle Violin Shop (2450 Bissonnet St.) (approximately $20-30 per month for a rental). Violins will need to come to school on their private lesson day and return home for practice each week.

Piano: Students are required to own or rent a full-sized piano or weighted keyboard to use at home for practice. The school will provide a piano for school lessons.

Curriculum, books, t-shirt, and additional materials are included in registration.

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the American Music Academy Family! We are thrilled to begin your musical journey through our group classes at The Mays School. Group classes are a wonderful way for students to build teamwork, develop listening skills, and experience the joy of collaborative music-making. Please review the following policies designed to ensure a smooth and enriching experience for all participants.

Class Schedule & Attendance

Group classes take place weekly throughout the semester, except on major holidays as listed in The Mays School holiday schedule.

There are no refunds, credits, or proration for missed group classes.
A make-up class will be scheduled at the end of each semester to accommodate lessons canceled due to inclement weather or school-wide closures.
Make-up classes will not be provided for student absences due to illness, travel, or personal conflicts.

Performances

AMA holds one performance per semester for all group class students. Participation is included at no additional charge and is considered a vital part of our curriculum. We believe performing is a critical tool for growth in musicianship and confidence. Students must be enrolled at the time of the performance to participate.

Communication & Announcements

All school-wide announcements—including performance details, weather-related closures, and event updates—will be sent via email and/or posted to our social media accounts.

Tuition & Payment

Tuition is processed via The Mays School.

Inclement Weather & School Closures

AMA will follow The Mays School’s directive when canceling classes for weather.
In the event of closure, a group make-up class will be held at the end of the semester.
If you are unable to attend the scheduled make-up class, the class will be forfeited.

Liability Waiver and Photo/Video Release

I hereby certify that I am the parent or legal guardian of the minor child/children under the age of 18 years, and I consent to his/her participation in activities at the American Music Academy. I agree, personally and on behalf of the minor child/children named below, to assume all risks and responsibilities surrounding my minor child/children while attending the American Music Academy. To the fullest extent allowed by law, I hold harmless and agree to indemnify American Music Academy LLC, its officers, directors, members, faculty, staff, volunteers, employees, agents, and The Mays School from and against any present or future claim, cause of action, loss or liability for injury/illness to person or property, which said minor child/children may suffer or for which said said minor child/children may be liable to any other person, related to said minor child’s participation resulting from any cause whatsoever, and regardless of fault. I am at least 18 years of age and have carefully read and freely signed this Liability Waiver and Release Form (minor child). I understand and agree that no oral or written representatives can or will alter the contents of this document. I agree that this agreement shall be governed by the laws of the state of Texas. By enrolling, you authorize AMA to use student photos and videos for promotional purposes unless otherwise notified in writing.

Summer & Holiday Schedule

AMA will follow The Mays School calendar for all closures.
Classes falling on holidays listed in the school calendar will not be held or charged.

Acknowledgement

By registering your child for group classes at The Mays School with American Music Academy, you acknowledge that you have received, read, and agree to these policies. Policies are subject to change with 30 days’ notice.
