The 8 Sensory Systems and How They Impact Your Child’s Eating

We are all taught that there are five senses (sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell), when, in fact, there are eight sensory systems! In addition to the basic five, we have the proprioceptive, vestibular, and interoceptive systems, which play integral roles in our everyday activities. In this discussion we will look at each of these systems and how they play a role in eating. Additionally, we’ll introduce the S.O.S. Approach to Feeding and how it supports children’s exploration of food in a playful, non-stressful, and comfortable way.
