Spooktacular Season at MAYS
Updated: Oct 6
Welcome to October, MAYS families! It is finally fall! Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our September General PTO Meeting, and we hope to see you all at the next General PTO Meeting on Friday, October 23rd from 8:30-9:30am in the MAYS library. If you can't make it but want to chat, please email us at hello@mayspto.org.
We have three items of note for October that I want to highlight at the outset:
Attend Our Spirit Night Fundraiser on October 8th We're kicking off October with a Spirit Night Fundraiser at Auntie Pasto's. To participate, simply eat dinner (from 5:30 to 8:30) at Auntie Pasto's on October 8th. They are generously donating a percentage of all sales from the evening to the MAYS PTO. After you eat, head over to the turf patch to see if any MAYS friends are playing! We would love another semi-impromptu play night!
Attend the SMART Families Session on October 15th Last year, the MAYS PTO partnered with an awesome nonprofit, SMART Families, to help build healthy and intentional relationships with technology. We hope you can join us for our first session with SMART Families on October 15th from 8:30-9:30 in the MAYS Library. This promises to be an informative and empowering event for MAYS parents!
Call for Baskets We have an ask for y'all over the next few months: If you find yourself holding onto some baskets that you do not need, please consider donating them to the PTO for use in bundling auction items for MAYS RAISE. We had a need for baskets of all sizes last RAISE, so no basket is too small (or too large!).

September Spirit Night Update
Thank you to everyone who came out to our September Spirit Night Fundraiser at Mia's Table and Cosmic Ice Cream! We had a blast seeing everyone and meeting new families! Not to create too much FOMO in those who couldn't attend, but we had a very fun and impromptu playdate in the Bellaire Triangle as we filled ourselves with ice cream.
And for the information you've been waiting for... because of your amazing participation at this Spirit Night, we raised $484.95 for the MAYS PTO! We will be using this money to help fund PTO-sponsored events--starting with the Playdate Snow Cones last week!
We had such high participation, in fact, that are throwing an ice cream party for all of the classrooms! That fun day will take place October 9th.
We hope that you all can join us on October 8th for our next Spirit Night Fundraiser at Auntie Pasto's.
October Volunteer Spotlight
This month, we want to spotlight and thank Avni Chopra for all her efforts in kicking off Moms Club! We had an amazing response to Avni's Moms Club Poll, and she is already hard at work creating events to meet your feedback, including a Dinner + Bowling meetup, which will take place on October 21st from 7-9pm at Palace Social (4191 Bellaire Blvd., Suite 150, 77025).
We hope you can join! The PTO will cover the first round of bowling (1 hour)! Attendees will cover their own expenses for dinner, shoe rental, and lane rental over one hour.
Please consider RSVP'ing here so we have a headcount for any reservations.
Scholastic Book Fair Recap!
Thank you to everyone who volunteered and purchased books at the Scholastic Book Fair! Your purchases directly helped stock the MAYS library and classrooms with new books, which we know our children are going to love.
A particular thank you to the MAYS parents who volunteered at the book fair--we couldn't do this great programming without your help! Abbie Casiano even picked up two shifts for us when we were in a bind!
